THE HOW TO OF HANGING YOUR ART

Hanging art is a balancing act of spacing, color and proportion.

As any curator, interior designer or gallerist knows, the way art is displayed is crucial and transformative not just to the space but to the feelings it conveys.

So whether your budget is for a poster or a Picasso, anything can look good once framed and hung properly.

ADVISE WORTH CONSIDERING

1.  HEIGHT - The ideal height of the centre of the art should be at eye level 5 feet from the ground, if there is no furniture under it.

Art hung over furniture should not be wider than 75% of the furniture.

2. ARRANGEMENT - If you are hanging multiple pictures arrange the pattern on the floor before hanging it up.

3. HOOKS- Always hang art from two points on either side of the back of the frame. This will prevent it from falling , shifting and moving out of alignment.

4. SPACING-

5. PLACING- Symmetrical Placing allows you to create a grouping that has visual balance.
Asymmetrical placing is great when you have a group of paintings

  1. I'm really surprised Zia at the amount of time and research you dedicate to your blog. It's truly wonderful!

The one thing that's evident in the article though not expressly stated is that it's advisable to ensure that when there are multiple frames (of multiple sizes) the spacing between them even in an asymmetrical layout should be as consistent as possible.
