SOFA PILLOW STYLING

What tricks do designers do to make their sofas so fab and stylish? This post is about to show you how to style your sofa so it looks like the photos in the magazines.Pillows are a great way to add color and texture to make a big impact without much investment.

Styling your sofa is all about balance. You can achieve this by using 2 sets of matching cushions with an accent pillow in the middle.

When mixing prints keep the scale of the print in mind, balance big bold prints with smaller simpler prints.

This is the most commonly used pillow arrangement, easy to construct and neutral. Odd number pillows are almost always the most pleasing.

START WITH 2 LARGE PILLOWS
Start with 2 large square pillows, ideally 24" squares. They go at the ends of the sofa resting against the arms, these are the ANCHOR PILLOWS.

MORE PILLOWS
Add 2 matching pillows, smaller than the first , with some design or texture.
They can be 20" pillows in linen or embroidered design.
These are your DECORATIVE PILLOWS.

ADD AN INTERESTING CENTER PILLOW
This could be a long envelope pillow with buttons, or an interesting patterned cushion in a different color or shape.
This is your INTEREST PILLOW.

ADD A THROW
You can add a throw to create another layer of color and texture. The throw should compliment the pillow colors.

More than anything your decorative choices should be fun and reflect your style and personality, so don't be afraid to throw in something quirky or unpredictable.

FRESHEN UP YOUR DESK
HOME OFFICE STYLING

I know not everyone has a dedicated room for a home office, but you definitely need some dedicated space to store your stationery, office supplies and important documents.

When your are organizing your desk, first completely empty it before you start.
Go through every item you have removed and sort it into piles, this is also a good way to de clutter and get rid of things you don't require.
Now its time to focus on the items you are going to keep in your desk. Be creative in your storage and look around your house for items that could be re purposed to meet your needs such as spice racks, trays, jars etc.

BED SIDE STYLING
A well styled bed side table not only helps create a balanced space that reflects your personality and deign aesthetic, but it's contents should be useful and practical as well.
As with all decorating it's usually all about layering of texture, height, color etc

Your bed side table can be a lot more than a place to rest your phone, so why not try some of these ideas to give it an instant make over.
A night stand can look good and yet be functional, and I'm going to show you how to do just that.

LIGHT
A bed side lamp will most likely be the largest piece on your table. Think of your lamp as part light and part sculpture, besides performing a function it should also look pretty. If you need more light use a lighter shade of lamp shade so it emits more light. Pick a lamp that is proportionate to the scale of your bed side table and bedroom.

READING MATERIAL
A small stack of books besides looking beautiful helps create height and interest on your bed side table. Stacking some books vertically and some horizontally is my style tip.

ART
Whether its a birthday card or a post card or an inspirational quote pop it in a small frame and stand it on your bed side table. This is about capturing something that has sentimental value and presenting it aesthetically so you can admire it.

COOL CLOCK
A vintage or analogue clock that has character is a cool way to read time and make your bedroom a digital free zone.

RING DISH
Keep your jewelry safe while you sleep by placing a ring dish on the table, this will add some bling too.

CANDLES
A luxurious relaxing candle is ideal to light at the end of the day.

FRESH FLOWERS AND PLANTS
Whether it's a just one stem or a bunch, fresh flowers provide a natural feel to your room, not to mention a splash of color. For a more permanent addition opt for a delicate plant.

DECORATIVE ORNAMENTS
Pieces you've collected is a great way of adding your personal touch to your table.

BOXES
A ceramic, wood, leather or glass box serves many purposes, besides being stylish , practical and adding height to your table.

TRAYS
The ultimate way to get organized and let your bed side table stay clutter free.

LAYERING
Layering objects, such as placing your ring stand on a pile of books or resting two photo frames to overlap each other adds visual interest.

So now go work on your bedside table, then take a well deserved nap to wake up to a gorgeously styled nightstand.
